You Bring the Kids, We'll Bring the Jazz!
Live from the Lounge: David Dejesus Trio
Every Saturday, we’re inviting NYC’s top musicians to perform in our intimate art deco cocktail lounge, from local legends to Grammy award-winners. This week’s musical act is David DeJesus.
David DeJesus is a multiple Grammy Award winning saxophonist and bandleader from Brooklyn, NY who has established himself as a key player in numerous bands in various genres. In Jazz, David has performed with the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Mingus Big Band, the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All-Stars, and Jimmy Heath’s Big Band along with many others. In Latin Jazz and Salsa, David has shared the stage with Ruben Blades, Larry Harlow, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Arturo O’Farrill and Tito Rodriguez Jr.
Currently, David is the Director of the Birdland Big Band, a member of the Grammy nominated Bobby Sanabria Big Band, and Musical Director for legendary Ron Carter’s Great Big Band. On top of his busy performing career, David has long been involved in education. Having taught at major conservatories including Manhattan School of Music, New York University, and the New School, David is proud to currently be a Full-Time Faculty member and Head of Jazz Studies at Purchase College.

The Great Long Meadow Fire is brand new band with a brand new idea: Alt country, dark Americana and gospel blues as a brass band. Made up of NYC's best led by Dan Lehner. Top Queens is a funk/soul band of all women from different parts of the globe. They play original music that has groove, soul and funky vibes that adds something new, refreshing, and inspiring to the industry while creating more space for talented women in the music scene. Founded on the love for the spirit of New Orleans and the intrigue of New York's cultural musical diversity, NOTUS came together in January of 2018 seeking to accomplish only three simple goals; create music, have fun doing it, and share it with the world. We are care-free and fun-loving pioneers of Brass Fusion, combining elements from contemporary New Orleans Funk, Traditional Brass, Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Latin, and Jazz.

Robert Hill Band
The latest CD release from Robert Hill & Joanne Lediger, who have been performing and touring together for fifteen years, is titled Revelation. For the project, vocalist Joanne Lediger and partner Robert Hill - on guitar, vocals, harp and keys, are joined by: Paulina Hill, Robert's daughter, on vocals; Steve Gelfand on bass; Frank Pagano on drums and percussion; and Ed Alstrom on Hammond B3 organ. Of the disc's eleven traditional Gospel Blues tracks, four are Robert Hill originals.
Robert’s CD has achieved acclaim in a very short time, reaching #1&2 on the Top 50 Gospel Blues Song Chart; # 5 on the Top 50 Blues Album Chart, and #2 on the New York Album Chart, among other top rated charts.
Original art work by Robert Hill and Roadhouse director Bruce Tangowski will be on display at the Roadhouse Gallery of Fine Art.
As always, the Salem Roadhouse Café is live, intimate, up front, and personal. All ages are welcome.
