  • The Bradford Hayes Quartet will be in concert at the Englewood Public Library, on Sunday, August 8 at 5 p.m. on the library’s front plaza. The concert series is free and open to the public. Registration is required for these concerts and is available on Eventbrite or go to tinyurl.com/bradfordhayes. This concert is part of the Second Sunday concert series co-sponsored by Age-Friendly Englewood and the Friends of the Englewood Library. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there is a maximum of 100 guests; please bring your own chair or blanket, and masks/social distancing is urged. Mr. Hayes has opened for Chico Freeman, Betty Carter, Joe Henderson, Max Roach, and Hilton Ruiz among others. In addition to leading his own band, Bradford spent 15 years with Babatunde Olatunji’s Drums Of Passion Band, serving as Musical Director for the last 3 years, and performed with Mr. Olatunji at Yankee Stadium during Nelson Mandela’s 1st historical trip to the United States after his release from a South African prison. Mr. Hayes, while accomplishing so much in the music performance world, has also been a successful music educator in the Newark, New Jersey Public Schools for 30 years. This connection to education, and his knowledge of jazz, makes him an excellent clinician.
