Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) continues its Jazz Masters music series with the Willie Martinez Latin Jazz Quartet. Martinez, an accomplished drummer, percussionist, arranger/composer and vocalist, will be joined by Nicki Denner on piano/vocals, Bernie Minoso on bass, and Anton Denner on reeds and flute.

TC the third, a “Philly” native has developed, initiated, inspired, networked, and led several Philadelphia/New York-based Jazz bands. TC appeared at various venues in Harlem including St. Nicks Pub. Patrick's Place welcome TC and his friends (Marcus Persiani, Donald Nicks, and Larry Banks) so come join us for a great fun evening of Jazz.

Live and direct from the Horn of Africa, Ethiopia’s QWANQWA make their North American debut this fall; embarking on their very first U.S. tour of 23 states over three months. QWANQWA is a five-piece improvisatory ensemble based in Addis Ababa, dedicated to furthering Ethiopia’s unique string traditions. Inspired by a shared passion for Ethiopian music, the group brings together some of the most accomplished traditional players in the country; creating a space to explore new, improvised sound and break the rules in an otherwise conservative musical culture.

Jazzmobile returns with its 58th annual Summerfest series, which takes over a myriad of stages throughout the city’s five boroughs with a dancing and diverse assemblage of nearly 30 jazz stars and emerging talents from July 6 to August 31. Deeply influenced by American folk and jazz traditions while incorporating the intimacy and precision of chamber music, The Westerlies’ brand-new program highlights the style of shape-note music—a body of work written with a notation system designed to facilitate congregational and social singing. The program includes four world premieres commissioned by Baryshnikov Arts Center, one by each of the quartet members and inspired by shape-note music, which showcase the group’s talent for improvisation while cutting new trails across the vast expanse of the American musical landscape.

Having performed all over the world for more than 20 years, Jason Prover has developed a Swiss Army Knife approach to playing the trumpet and creating music. He has studied with musicians from a variety of influences and styles and possesses an ever-evolving, multi-faceted sound of his own. While working to complete his upcoming album, he continues to tour, record, teach and play most nights in New York City.
