THE JAZZ EXCHANGE NOVEMBER 6TH SECRET SHOW: Saturday, November 6th | Arrival time 5:30pm *Important: Please arrive on time, seating will be on a first come first serve basis. Upon arrival find your seats, mingle with new people, and get settled in. Plan on staying for the entire show, so that our artists have an audience to perform for. This is a concert series so come with an open mind to listen to new artists and their music! How does a secret show work? First, find out about The Jazz Exchange Secret Show in your area and purchase your tickets. The exact address of the venue will not be revealed, only the area that the event will take place. Our shows consist of two performances, one by a talented emerging artist followed by an amazing featured artist. The performing artist will remain a secret, the only thing we can promise is that they are the top talent in the area and the show will be amazing! The exact address will be revealed to you 24 hours before the show, once you have purchased your tickets. Arrive at the location and DISCOVER a unique venue, MEET new people, and EXPERIENCE a new artist. How much are the tickets? Ticket prices vary depending on the space, date, and location. We try to keep the price reasonable for all our audience members. Check your secret show for more details. What kind of music or entertainment will be there? The Jazz Exchange show always consists of two performances. The show will start with an emerging musician followed by a featured artist in the area. All artists are selected by our Jazz Exchange team to ensure we bring an exciting, diverse, and entertaining experience. Come with an open mind to listen to new music and artists in your local community. Trust us, it will be worth it! Where am I going? You already know the area that the show will be presented, and the suspense is almost over. A day before (24 hours) the event you will receive an email with the address of the secret location. Please plan to be at the show at the arrival time, and look for The Jazz Exchange signage where you will check-in. Our Secret Shows are meant to build communities, creating an immersive experience that brings guests and artists closer together. What is the venue like? Classic art deco bar serves out hand-crafted artisanal cocktails alongside B Squared’s elevated seafood concept including lush seafood towers, charred king crab, shrimp guacamole, and our famous B2 Mac n’ Cheese! We will be monitoring CDC guidelines throughout the different areas to make sure we are following the rules and keeping our guests and performers safe. PROOF OF VACCINATION We will be requiring proof of vaccination against COVID-19 to enter our September Secret Show in Brooklyn. MASKING We strongly encourage guests to wear masks inside the venue when not actively eating or drinking. We also ask that you wear a mask when talking with the performers, staff, walking around, or using the restroom. The Jazz Exchange + venue staff will remain masked at all times when interacting with artists, patrons, drinks, food, etc. HAND SANITIZING STATION Hand sanitizer is readily available at check-in and at the venue. We encourage frequent hand washing and the use of hand sanitizer. Additional hand sanitizer is available for our staff. TOUCHLESS PROGRAM The Jazz Exchange evenings program will be available digitally and can be accessed on your mobile device by scanning the provided QR code at your table. In the program, you will find the information of the performing artists performing, social media handles, how to follow and support, and other events from The Jazz Exchange. How Long Will This Policy Last? We are hopeful that this temporary policy will not be needed in the future as things continue to improve. The admission policy will remain depending on local health official recommendations and on infection rates going forward. Flushing Town Hall’s annual NEA Jazz Masters concert returns live to play the music from two of the greatest pianists in the history of jazz: Thelonious Monk and Horace Silver. This concert features five NEA Jazz Masters, the nation’s highest honor in Jazz, including Jimmy Owens (2012 NEA Jazz Master) on trumpet, Kenny Barron (2010 NEA Jazz Master) on piano, Sheila Jordan (2012 NEA Jazz Master) on vocals, Billy Hart* (2022 NEA Jazz Master) on drums, and Donald Harrison Jr. (2022 NEA Jazz Master) on saxophone, joined by Kenny Davis on bass. A special surprise guest artist will be announced! Legendary Jazz Master Jimmy Owens has curated the program and outstanding lineup for this memorable evening together with Flushing Town Hall’s Jazz Producer in Residence, Clyde Bullard. Master Owens (trumpet, flugelhorn) has over forty-five years of experience as a jazz trumpeter, composer, arranger, lecturer, and music education consultant. His experience covers a wide range of international musical achievement, which includes extensive work as a studio musician, soloist, bandleader, and composer of orchestral compositions, movie scores, and ballets. In this most unusual season, Lin has performed – both digital and in person – at the Mostly Mozart Festival, Washington Performing Arts, Winnipeg New Music, the Morris Museum, St. Olaf College, and elsewhere.

Bloomingdale School of Music presents a free Faculty Concert Series on select Friday evenings at the David Greer Recital Hall on 323 West 108th Street. The 2021-2022 season will be an exciting and diverse series with 14 performances in a wide variety of genres. For over 20 years Bloomingdale has presented its faculty, as well as guest artists, in concerts including classical music, jazz, and world music designed specifically for children. Play_Ground is an eclectic musical unit, founded by versatile New York City based multi instrumentalists, Slovenian born Jan Kus and Puerto Rican born Dan Martínez. Jazz pianist Joel Zelnik is joined by bassist Brian Glassman and drummer David Cox in a program based on the dialogues between Zelnik and Evans at the Village Gate during the mid-sixties. Splitting sets with the Bill Evans Trio at the Village Gate, Joel was heavily influenced by one of the most important pianists and composers in the history of jazz.

Five Boroughs Music Festival (5BMF) is proud to present the acclaimed Cramer Quartet in their premiere performances of the Seven Last Words Project. The concert will take place on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 7:30pm at the Sheen Center for Thought and Culture in Manhattan. The Cramer Quartet consists of violinists Jessica Park and Chiara Fasani Stauffer, violist Keats Dieffenbach, and cellist Shirley Hunt. The Seven Last Words Project is an immersive string quartet performance that interweaves seven new works by composers Jessica Meyer, Colin Jacobsen, Nico Muhly, Tania León, Reena Esmail, Paola Prestini, and Caroline Shaw with Franz Joseph Haydn’s nine-movement masterpiece The Seven Last Words of Christ. Each of the new works is written as a response to a movement of the Haydn, taking the place of sermons that would traditionally be given in a church service setting. The result is a quilting of old and new, and a meditation on these seven famed phrases from a contemporary and global viewpoint. At the Sheen Center performance on November 18, audiences will also have the opportunity to experience the show with accompanying digital projections designed by Camilla Tassi, a new and experimental component of the Seven Last Words Project and the start of an ongoing partnership with the Cramer Quartet.
