  • Jazz Alive presents their 2022 Summer Concert Series at the historic Waterfowl Building located at 40 South Harrison Street in Easton, Maryland. Continuing the club-like setting of the 2021 series, concertgoers can reserve seats at tables set throughout the hall that offer great views of the stage while enjoying a beverage and lite snacks from a candlelit table.

The second concert of the Jazz Alive Summer Concert Series takes place on July 30, 2022 with Philadelphia-based vocalist Joanna Pascale, who insists that she cannot perform a song unless she can connect personally with its lyrics. But once she's found that connection, there's no one who can better convey the emotion of those words more directly and intimately than Pascale. A singer of sophisticated taste, profound expressiveness, and raw emotion, Pascale is also a gifted educator who is a member of the vocal faculty at both Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania. She's been featured on recordings by Jeremy Pelt, Tim Warfield, Orrin Evans, Larry McKenna, the Temple University Jazz Band, and Garry Dial and Dick Oatts. Pascale made her recording debut with 2004's When Lights Are Low, followed by the 2008 CD Through My Eyes and a 2010 duo recording with pianist Anthony Wonsey. With the 2015 release of Wildflower, she revealed her most personal and diverse collection to date.

The Waterfowl Building is at 40 South Harrison Street in Easton, Maryland. Tickets are $48 and available at jazz-alive.org or at the door the day of the event. Students attend free with a Student ID. A cash bar will be available. Proceeds from ticket and concession sales support Jazz Alive's mission of providing educational support in developing future artists and preserving this great art form through school and community programs.

  • Acclaimed Dutch pianist Peter Beets brings his formidable quartet to Zinc for a splendid evening of jazz piano featuring saxophonist Eric Alexander. He’s supported by bassist Alexander Claffy and drummer Joe Farnsworth.

As one of the most sought-after jazz artists of our time, Peter Beets has attracted a devoted international audience, performing regularly at major jazz festivals and venues throughout Europe, the United States, and Asia. He has shared the stage with jazz greats such as Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, “Toots” Thielemans, Elvin Jones, George Coleman, Johnny Griffin, Benny Golson, and Kurt Rosenwinkel. One of his earliest recordings, “First Date” (1996), featured the great Jeff Hamilton on drums. In 2001 the Criss Cross label invited Peter for a series of CDs with his “New York Trio”, inviting artists like Willie Jones III, Larry Grenadier, and Greg Hutchinson, earning him international acclaim.

  • “A rather amazing improviser, the pianist is making a name for himself by feverishly assaulting the progressive edge of mainstream jazz.” — Village Voice

Acclaimed Venezuelan jazz pianist Luis Perdomo brings his trio to Zinc on Tuesday, December 20 for a splendid evening of jazz piano. He's supported by Ugonna Okegwo on bass and Adam Cruz on drums.

Ever since he came to New York in 1993 from Venezuela, Perdomo has emerged as one of the most in-demand sidemen—as evidenced by his celebrated work with a wide array of jazz and Latin stars—from Ravi Coltrane to Ray Barretto, and by his six critically acclaimed recordings as a leader. The release of his magnificent new, Hot Tone label debut CD, 22, features bassist Mimi Jones’ supple, deep bass lines and drummer Rudy Royston’s quicksilver rhythms, in a trio he christened The Controlling Ear Unit. “I wanted to create an environment where a sensitive player could make his own musical choices, without fear of the consequences,” Perdomo says. “The word ‘unit’ is appropriate because although the current group is a trio, it doesn’t really have to be restrained to that. It could have a different format, depending on what the music calls for.”

Showtimes are at 7:00 PM and 8:30 pm. Tickets: $30 advance / $35 day of show. For more info, visit http://zincjazzcom.
