WBGO News Captures Three Awards From the New York Association of Black Journalists

The WBGO News department won three New York Association of Black Journalists (NYABJ) awards at the Alhambra Ballroom in Harlem.  It was a big night for WBGO's Alexandra Hill, who won two first-place awards for news and feature coverage of Newark schools and a youth summit.

The WBGO podcast Sportsjam with Doug Doyle won first place in the Sports Journalism category.

NYABJ recognized three individuals for their outstanding achievements.  Bevelations host Bevy Smith, The View's Sunny Hostin and The Roots Michael Harriot.  The evening was co-hosted by WCBS TV anchor Maurice DuBois and Jericka Duncan of CBS News.

Outgoing NYABJ President Julie Walker was presented with some gifts and thanked for all her hard work the past two years. 

WBGO's Alexandra Hill, Brit Harley and Doug Doyle represented the radio station at the Harlem event.

Doug Doyle has been News Director at WBGO since 1998 and has taken his department to new heights in coverage and recognition. Doug and his staff have received more than 250 awards from organizations like PRNDI (now PMJA), AP, New York Association of Black Journalists, Garden State Association of Black Journalists and the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists.
