NYC Preparing Businesses To Protect Workers as City Looks To Reopen

New York City will be helping employees protect their workers from coronavirus with the city still on pace to start reopening within the next couple weeks.  Businesses must supply face coverings to their employees once they reopen and the city will give them to companies for free.  Mayor de Blasio is setting up a worker helpline for employees to send in coronavirus related workplace protection complaints.

“Workers need to know where to turn if there is a problem and that’s what the city will provide a helping hand to working people to make sure every business treats them right during this restart.”

The city will be helping businesses get high in demand cleaning supplies.

“We are working on ways to make sure there is a supply available at a price that businesses can afford”

Hundreds of thousands are expected back to work soon when New York City reopens and the mayor talked about the commute today.  Bill de Blasio was asked what his advice would be to New Yorkers without a car who don’t feel safe taking mass transit.

“Where we can find a way to help people we will. There’s not always the chance to help everyone all the time in terms of their transportation needs. People are going to need to improvise and I believe they will.”

The mayor says the city is working with the MTA on social distancing and capacity limits on buses and subway cars.

“We’re trying to get the subway and buses as clean and safe as possible.”

The City’s health commissioner seems to endorse walking and biking, saying they will have a reduced risk for coronavirus exposure.
