New Jersey Working on Faster COVID Testing

New Jersey is hoping growing testing capacity will help it further contain the coronavirus.

Governor Phil Murphy says 446 new positive COVID-19 cases shows the virus is continuing to spread in the Garden State but they are working to increase testing significantly.

"Infinite biologics, that's Rutgers is providing daily 30 thousand of its rapid response saliva based conronavirus tests to our broad-based testing initiatives."

In addition to the tests not being as invasive as the nasal swab test, Murphy says the results are quicker.

"With a 48 hour turnaround. They don't rely on the same reagents and raw materials that the other tests the PCR tests rely upon."

Murphy stresses people need to continue to take precautions. He is not loosening restrictions any further.....indoor dining is still not allowed at New Jersey restaurants.
