On this episode of The Art of the Story from the WBGO Archive, legendary saxophonist and composer Benny Golson chats live on WBGO on April 28, 1998 with host Rhonda Hamilton.

They talked about Golson's introduction to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. He would spend two years with that amazing band.

Beginning in 1958, Golson composed for the band . . . “Blues March,” “Along Came Betty,” “Killer Joe” . . . and played on the albums, then launched his own career.
