The school year is about six months old and hundreds of millions of free school meals have been served in New York State. The state has served more than 275 million free school meals so far this school year. It's a milestone that Governor Hochul says amounts to a savings of $450 million a month for families statewide.The governor's Universal School Meals Program was launched earlier this year, and doesn't require any financial status to qualify. It was made possible by a $340 million state investment into school meals.
