Baraka curbs ICE activity in Newark

ICE

Mayor Ras Baraka is acting to curb the enforcement actions of ICE in Newark.
Baraka has signed an executive order preventing ICE agents from using city-owned property, facilities or resources for unconstitutional civil immigration enforcement actions. The executive order says agents cannot enter city buildings without a warrant or judicial order. In addition city employees must report any unconstitutional wrongdoing in Newark by ICE agents. Governor Sherrill has set up a portal for that purpose. And the order prohibits Newark police from cooperating with federal immigration authorities in any way.
