Local officials restore pride flag in Lower Manhattan

A rainbow pride flag is now back up at the Stonewall National Monument in Lower Manhattan after it was taken down earlier in the week at the direction of the Trump Administration.

LGBTQ-Plus rights advocates including elected officials are angered that without notice the Trump Administration took down the Pride Flag on Monday. It had been flown at the Stonewall Monument for the last few years. Council Speaker Julie Menin.

"This is an effort by the Trump administration to erase LGBTQ community and we will not stand for it. "

The Trump administration says only authorized flags are allowed on Park Service flag poles. On Thursday, City officials put the pride flag back up. The Stonewall Monument recognizes the start of the LGBTQ-Plus movement.
