Governor Kathy Hochul is introducing legislation to try and end local cooperation with ICE in New York following deadly ICE involved shootings in Minneapolis.

Hochul introduced what's called the Local Cops, Local Crimes legislation. It would severely limit local authorities' ability to work with ICE. Right now there are a handful of counties including Nassau that allow ICE to use local police to help them arrest undocumented immigrants.

"They do their job. Although I don't like the way they are doing their job. Don't expect our local law enforcement to team up with them because we have other responsibilities for our local law enforcement."

The governor emphasizes that her legislation would not prevent local law enforcement from cooperating with ICE in tracking down undocumented criminals.
