New York Governor Kathy Hochul is proposing a 260 billion dollar budget that new spending for childcare.
Hochul's plan unveiled on Tuesday includes an increase in school aid for all districts , a 50 percent increase in funding for an existing day care voucher program and 500 million in new money for pre-k programs.
"We will not shift costs onto families and leave vulnerable families without a lifeline the way Washington has."
Just like last year, Hochul wants 77 million dollars dedicated to extra police on the New York City subway system. Her budget proposal does not raise income taxes on New Yorker on New Yorkers but the budget would be a nearly two and a half percent increase in spending over last year.
