Numbers are in for 2025 and they show New York City has recorded the lowest number of shootings in its history.

The 688 shootings in the Big Apple last year was a 24 percent drop from 2024 and the lowest ever on record for one year. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch also notes a four percent drop in major subway crime and reductions in burglaries, robberies and retail theft.

"These reductions are the product of our precision policing strategy, putting and unprecedent number of cops in the streets and in neighborhoods driving violence."

However, she notes 18 percent of shooting suspects were minors last year, the highest percentage ever. The number of rapes increased as well as assaults on police officers.
