New York City's new Mayor Zohran Mamdani is wasting no time getting to work after his inauguration on New Year's Day.
Mamdani took the oath of office in front of thousands of bundled up New Yorkers.
He vowed to come through on his campaign promises.
"We will deliver universal childcare for the many by taxing the wealthiest few. We will freeze the rent. We will make those buses fast and free."
After his inauguration, Mamdani signed executive orders. Some intended to address the severe housing shortage. One creates a task force that will look at how to speed up construction. Another aims to find city owned prosperities that can be used for housing.
