Drivers can expect to fork over more at Port Authority run crossings at the start of the New Year.

There will be a three percent toll hike as part of a decade long multi-billion dollar budget just approved by Port Authority. That includes the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels and GWB and other PA crossings. The plan also phases out the discount EZ Pass drivers get at off peak. In addition, PATH riders will pay 25 cents more starting this spring and the in a few years, the PATH fare will eventually hit four dollars. The Port Authority's James Heitmann says plans are in the works for better PATH service.

"One of the biggest things that we were looking to do is provide that direct service from Journal Square in Hoboken into the city on weekends"
