Three casinos are coming to New York City with the first one likely just months away from opening.
The New York State Gaming Commission on Monday gave the final approval for licenses for three New York City casino applicants, ending a multi-year process. Brian O'Dwyer is the chair of the Commission.
"Substantial undertakings were made by the applicants for community benefits for the future."
Resorts World near the Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens could open live table games as soon as March. The Commission also signed off on a casino for Bally's in the Bronx and a Hard Rock plan near Citi Field. The three casinos are expected to bring in billions of dollars in tax revenue in the coming years and create jobs, but opponents are concerned about traffic and quality of life issues.
