There's a big change happening in the New York City subway system, that's impacting a lot of riders starting on Monday.

The F line and M line are going to swap service routes permanently during the day on weekdays from 6 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. They will remain the way they are now for overnights and weekends. MTA Chair Janno Lieber says after a review of data, the swap should lead to less overcrowding and reduce the number of delays on both lines and for R and E line riders.

"We are all New Yorkers and we all know we have our set routines. No one likes change but you know there are real benefits."

The MTA says the swap will make for more reliable service for one point two million New Yorkers.
