New York and New Jersey officials are speaking out after President Trump on Wednesday surprisingly said the massive Gateway rail tunnel project is terminated.
An outraged Mikie Sherill who is running for New Jersey governor says she wants to remind people how important the multi billion dollar Gateway projected is to the region.
"This tunnel project could be responsible for almost 100-thousand jobs in the region. If we see delays on this, it's almost a million dollars a day we will be paying."
Her opponent Republican Jack Citarelli says he'll fight to complete Gateway, calling the rail tunnel between New Jersey and Manhattan critical. New York Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer says Trump trying to kill Gateway is pure spite and stupidity. It's unclear if Trump took formal moves to stop federal funding for the project.
