Governor Kathy Hochul has signed an executive order that makes it easy and clear for New Yorkers to get the coronavirus vaccine following regulatory uncertainty over vaccine policies.
Coronavirus vaccines were generally available to all adults, but the FDA recently approved the updated shots for only older and high-risk people and that prompted some pharmacies to require prescriptions and there are different state rules. Governor Kathy Hochul's executive order allows pharmacists to administer the vaccine with no prescription needed.
"Because I don't think people are going to take the time to go get a doctor's prescription. I think that people's lives have become conditioned to be able to walk into a pharmacy."
At a hearing last week, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior said everybody can get access to the shots.
