New York City Mayor Eric Adams thinks the shooter who killed four people inside a Midtown, Manhattan high rise Monday was targeting NFL employees.

Adams tells Fox Five an apparent suicide note by Shane Tamura mentions he has a CTE brain disease and in the note, he appears to put blame on the NFL for his mental illness, saying Quote. "The league knowingly concealed the dangers to our brains to maximize profits,” Tamura never played in the NFL but was reportedly a star youth football player. NFL headquarters is on lower floors of the Park Avenue building he targeted but Adams says it appears Tamura mistakenly used the wrong set of elevators and ended up on the 33rd floor.

Meanwhile, New York Governor Kathy Hochul is calling on Congress to pass an assault weapons ban following Monday's shooting.

Hochul says despite New York's strict gun laws, it wasn't enough to prevent the shooter from driving from Las Vegas to New York with an assault rifle where authorities say he killed four people inside a Park Avenue building. She says Congress must stand up to the gun lobby and pass a national assault weapons ban, Meanwhile, Hochul is directing flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of the victims until they are laid to rest.

Money is being raised for the police officer shot and killed.

More than 100-thousand dollars has been raised through an online fundraiser so far for the family of officer Didarul [[ DEE-da-rool ]]Islam. The 36-year-old leaves behind a pregnant wife and two children. Mayor Adams says officer Islam lost his life saving others and protecting New Yorkers. He was off duty and working a private security detail assignment at 345 Park Avenue when police say 27-year-old Tamura shot and killed him and killed three others with an assault rifle before taking his own life.
