Both New York City Mayor Eric Adams and former Governor Andrew Cuomo are calling on each other to get out of the race for New York City Mayor.
Adams and Cuomo will appear as independents on the ballot and polls have them trailing Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani. Adams wants Cuomo to step aside.
"He put his message out. Voters heard it. He lost by 12 percentage points. I have an opportunity to go one on one with Mamdani"
Adams says Cuomo asked him privately to drop his campaign. Meanwhile, lesser known independent candidate Jim Walden is proposing a survey to determine who of all the candidates has the best shot at beating Mamdani and then the weaker candidates pledge their support to the strongest one.
