Section under Brooklyn Bridge know as the arches reopening

NYC.gov

Officials are reopening up a much improved popular public space under the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge, known as "The Arches"

There was extensive work done to revitalize the area with vaulted archways. There's new green space, seating and ramps for skateboarders and areas for basketball and shuffleboard. More than two acres of new public space was reopened during a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday. Rosa Chang with Gotham Park says her organization will help take care of the area.

"Today's opening and announcement is a monumental achievement. It benefits the community of Lower Manhattan. It welcomes people from every walk of life."

Mayor Adams announced a 50 million dollar investment for maintenance of "The Arches"
