DOT proposing bus lanes for Flatbush Avenue

New York City's Department of Transportation is now proposing bus lanes for Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn.

DOT officials propose center-running bus lanes for Flatbush Avenue from Livingston Street to Grand Army Plaza. Officials project the bus lanes would make the commutes faster and more reliable for about 69-thousand daily commuters, impacting mostly low-income residents. A traffic study shows this would significantly reduce cut-through traffic on Flatbush Avenue. The bus lanes would also improve air quality and bring safety improvements to Flatbush Avenue. The DOT just presented the proposal to Brooklyn Community Board 2.
