Subway service returns to Rockaways after four months of repairs

As the summer season approaches, The MTA is bringing back A line subway train service to the Rockaways. It started up again on Monday.

Governor Hochul joined MTA and elected officials on Monday in the Rockaways to celebrate the rehabbed A line that was out of action for the last four months. The line had sustained extensive damage including from Superstorm Sandy. Queens Borough President Donovan Richards.

"What I want all of us today is to feel relief, and a piece of mind finally, relief because the MTA did deliver the restoration work on budget and on time."

The A line underwent an extensive overhaul. The viaduct and bridge connecting the Rockaway Peninsula with the rest of Queens was also rehabbed and measures were taken to protect against future storms.
