A bill is being introduced in Albany that would allow grocery stores across New York State to sell wine if that wine is produced in the state.

State Senator George Borello just introduced the bill to help support the local wine industry. Right now the sale of wine in grocery stores is not allowed. However, Borello says allowing them to sell wine that's only made in New York will boost New York's wine industry. He says for too long outdated and unfair regulations have held back the wine and spirt industry. Liquor store owners are against the proposal with concerns they will lose sales.
