New York City is hiring teachers to further comply with state classroom mandates.
37-hundred teachers will be hired for roughly 750 schools for the start of next school year. Schools Chancellor Melissa Ramos says that will result in smaller class sizes and better learning.
"Enabling our teachers to work with smaller groups of students, providing more individualized attention and fostering a deeper level of engagement in the classroom."
Mayor Adams says next school year, classrooms will be capped at 20 students for Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Thate means at least 60 percent of the classrooms citywide will meet new state mandated smaller class sizes.
