New York State is refusing to comply with the Trump Administration's demand to diversity, equity and inclusion policies in public schools.
The Trump administration ordered school districts across the nation to sign a letter agreeing to terminate what the administration calls discriminatory DEI practices, in order to get federal money. On Friday, the attorney for the state's department of education sent a letter to the federal Education Department saying the state doesn't believe the feds have authority to make such a demand. The state says there are no federal or State laws prohibiting the principles of DEI. The Trump administration has said DEI programs "discriminate against one group of Americans to favor another.”
