New York Governor Kathy Hochul wants to raise awareness of the serious concern of the measles with outbreaks in certain parts of the country and cases now popping up in New York State.

There are now four measles cases in New York state, three of them in New York City and one in Suffolk County. There's also an outbreak in nearby Ontario. Hochul is calling on New Yorkers who are not vaccinated to get the vaccine against the measles.

"We cannot go backwards in this time of fear and disinformation. It will only wreak havoc in our state. So I am encouraging everyone, lets go forward together."
The state just launched a web portal that supports web access to vaccines. Health officials say the vaccine is 97 percent effective. About four out of five New York residents have received at least one dose of the measles vaccine.
