FDNY focuses on fire prevention at most high risk areas to fires

New York City's fire department is zeroing in on safety on blocks that are high risks for fire on what is now being declared by the Adams Administration “Fire Prevention Year”

Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker just released an assessment of each neighborhood’s emergency preparedness and vulnerability to fire incidents.

"These assessments highlight the leading causes of residential fires types of buildings most effected and vulnerability indicators specific to the community."

This year, the FDNY will provide targeted fire prevention resources to 100 blocks identified by the department as having the highest risk of fires. There has been several high-profile multiple-alarm fires in the city this year but recent trends show fire deaths are down in all categories including ones related to lithium ion batteries which had been a big problem in the city.
