New York Governor Kathy Hochul is proposing to offer free meals to every student as part of her 2025 agenda.

Governor Kathy Hochul says she is proposing that all of New York's 2.7 million students receive breakfast and lunch at school for free to help address food insecurity and save families money. President of the New York State United Teachers union Melinda Person says this will go a long way to help students learn.

"A Healthy breakfast and healthy lunch, the benefits are profound. Students are more engaged, attendance improve, test scores improve and classroom behavior improves as well."

Hochul's proposal would save the average New York family 165 dollars in groceries per child per month.
