The MTA is unveiling its proposal for the Queens bus network redesign that's expected to make commutes a lot better.
MTA Chair Janno Lieber says the roughly 800 thousand daily bus riders in Queens will get more frequent buses, more service and better connections to the rail system in the redesign plan.
"The latest version increases the number of bus routes to 124. It's a double digit percentage increase over what we have today."
Lieber says 20 routes have increased frequency with a focus on key streets including Union Turnpike and Merrick Boulevard. There's also 25 rush routes that will connect bus riders to the rail system. The MTA board is expected vote on the plan in the coming months.
