New York City mayor Eric Adams speaks to members of the press at a news conference in New York, Monday, Sept. 16, 2024.

Mayor Eric Adams is taking a big hit financially with his re-election campaign.

The New York City Campaign Finance Board is denying four million dollars to Mayor Adams in public matching funds as Adams gears up for a re-election campaign. The board chair Frederick Schaffer says the board determined there is reason to believe the Adams campaign has engaged in conduct detrimental to the matching funds program in violation of law. Mayor Adams doesn't appear to be too concerned.

"I got that can do energy and spirt and we are going to have enough money to put on a good campaign and get my message out."

Adams is battling federal corruption charges with his trial set to begin next April.
