New York City Mayor Eric Adams is looking to work with the incoming Trump administration when it comes to deporting migrants in certain situations.
Mayor Adams met with President elect Donald Trump's border czar Tom Homan on Thursday in the city. Afterward he said both are on the same page on going after undocumented immigrants who have committed crimes.
"We are not going to be a safe haven for those who commit repeated violent crimes against innocent migrants, immigrants and long standing New Yorkers."
The mayor says he is going to protect the rights of hardworking immigrants who are giving back to the city. The meeting triggered protesters at City Hall who are unhappy with Trump's pick as the border czar and critical of Adam's attitude to work with the incoming Trump administration on migrant deportations.
