New York Governor Kathy Hochul is proposing what she calls inflation rebate checks.
Families who make less than 300-thousand dollars annually would get a 500 dollar direct check from the state next year if Governor Kathy Hochul gets her way in the upcoming budget. It would be 300 dollars for individuals making less than 150 grand. Hochul says because of high inflation, the state got extra sales tax revenue.
'This was unanticipated revenues that I could spend at the state level or I can give it back to the New Yorkers who because of how much was taken out of their pockets, the state has more money."
Hochul expressed confidence the state legislature will support her proposal.
