New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer is taking another step to fight New York's amended congestion pricing plan for Manhattan.
Gottheimer is calling on the federal DOT to open a full public comment period to review the nine dollar toll to go south of 60th Street that the MTA board signed off on on Monday.
"Since by the MTA's own admission, this is clearly a new plan, causing new traffic patterns and different economic effects than before, it requires a new study and comment period."
Gottheimer says the toll which is set to rise to 15 dollars in year 2031 is another tax that will lead to more congestion in northern New Jersey. The toll is scheduled to start January 5th but faces numerous legal challenges.
