New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is now declaring a drought warning with little recent rain coming to the state this fall.
State officials are urging residents to shorten showers, fix leaks and take other water conservation measures. The state is going from a drought watch to now a warning and that allows officials to modify the rate of flow with streams and reservoirs releases. Governor Phil Murphy says the forecast is calling for a drier than normal winter
"That means this drought could grow even more severe which may eventually require mandatory water restrictions but we are not there yet."
The dry conditions has resulted in hundreds of more wildfires this fall compared to last year in the fall.
