Workers may be getting raises at the three major New York City airports.
The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey is proposing to tweak the minimum wage policy at JFK, LaGuardia and Newark Airports. It would provide annual increases for thousands of airport workers starting in January, with automatic increases tied to the regional cost of living. That lines up with with the minimum wage policies in New York and New Jersey. Cleaners, baggage handlers and security officers have been taking part in demonstrations recently, demanding a new contract.
