NYC sues E cigg distributor over illegal online sales

Getting a handle on evolving vape culture means exploring the complex realm of subspecialists: "cloud chasers," "coil builders" and other people who identify as vape modders.

New York City is filing a federal lawsuit against an online retailer for its illegal sale of flavored e-cigarettes that target tees.

The city's chief lawyer Muriel Goode-Trufant says Price Point Distributors out of Farmingdale is accused of putting profits over the well being of the youth.

"After just a few points and clicks, our investigators were able to purchase and have delivered to addresses in New York City, disposable flavored vapes."

She says the company is violating numerous federal and local laws with their online sales. Officials say the suit is an effort to protect teens from the harms of addictive vaping. The suit seeks to stop the sales and seeks fines. New York City filed similar lawsuits last year that are still proceeding.
