New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has won another term.

Gillibrand easily defeated retired New York police detective and Republican Michael Sapraicone for what will be her third full term as New York's junior U.S. senator. The Democrat thanked her family members and Governor Hochul while addressing her supporters at her victory party.

"Our voters understand how important their voice is and how important their vote is. They were heard tonight. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. God Bless you all and God bless America."

Some key issues Gillibrand has been a part of recently include fighting to get bills passed that help first responders sickened by 9-11 toxins and legislation for better security at the northern border.

Meanwhile, Democrats have flipped several House seats in New York State .

Republican incumbent Representative Marc Molinaro has lost to Democrat Josh Riley In New York's 19th district which represents parts of the Hudson Valley and the Catskills. In the Syracuse area, Democrat and State Senator John Mannion defeated Republican incumbent Congressman Brandon Williams in the 22nd District.
