New York City is tweaking the school calendar by giving children an extra day off during the winter break after a student spoke up about it.

A12-year-old student named Isaac wrote a letter to school leaders arguing that it didn't make sense to go to school on Monday December 23rd, given that was the only school day that week with Christmas Eve falling on Tuesday.

"I feel so proud of myself for all that hard work I did even with the advocating and with those e-mails."

Isaac got his wish. School officials are now giving students off Monday December 3rd to extend the break and they'll tack on another school day at the endo the year in June.
