Plans are in the works to improve the quality of life for residents living near the Cross Bronx Expressway.

Congressman Ritchie Torres says his home borough the Bronx has been plagued with the congestion and air pollution from truck traffic on the Cross Bronx for years.

"If you are a child who is living near the Cross Bronx or attending school nearby, then you are breathing through no fault of your own pollutants that cause you to have respiratory diseases like asthma"

The city DOT has three upcoming workshops for residents and officials to attend to review proposals for improving the conditions around the Cross Bronx. They include more green space, highway capping and noise reduction.
