NYPD beefs up security for Pride events

There's stepped up security measures in place for Pride month in New York City.

During a Pride security briefing, The head of the NYPD's counter terrorism division, Rebecca Weiner referenced recent messages from terrorist organizations that are encouraging attacks in the LGBTQ+ community this month.

"Isis has a habit of putting out propaganda focusing on Pride Month every May. They are continuing to do that."
but she expressed confidence Pride Month events in the city including the big Pride March will be kept safe. Police Commissioner Edward Caban says there will be security measures that the public will see and some they won't see. There are no known specific threats to New York.
