Brooklyn Marine Terminal to be transformed

NYC Mayor's Office

The Brooklyn Marine Terminal will be getting redeveloped into a more modern facility.

The city and the state are making a combined 95 million dollar investment into 122 acres on the Brooklyn waterfront by turning it into a mixed use hub that will include a maritime port. President of the city's Economic Development Corporation Andrew Kimball says it will eventually have cold storage containers to change the way some food is transported around the city.

"We need to be able to get that from barge in Red Hook up to Hunts Point instead of going back to New Jersey and back on the bridges."

City officials didn't give details but said it will explore mixed-use development options including housing and community amenities.
