New York City is going to be opening nine new schools next school year.

Schools Chancellor David Banks says the nine new schools in the Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx have different areas of focus and different specialties.

"In these schools, our children will be able to explore their interests and pursue their passions. They will be equipped with the skills, the creativity and the critical condition along with the hands on real world experiences."

They include a Bard Early College model high school in East New York where students can take courses with college instructors and get an associate degree. Also, a tech high school in Sunnyside will allow students to dive into the film and television industry. A middle school in Bay Ridge will focus on medical science and technology.
