Ground broken for Staten Island rec center

Staten Island is getting a state of the art recreation facility, the first in a long time for the borough.

Officials just broke ground on a 45-thousand square foot rec center that will feature a running track, fitness and cardio rooms sports courts pools and electric vehicle charging stations. The Mary Cali Dalton Recreation Center will be located on the waterfront in Tompkinsville. Mayor Eric Adams was on hand for Friday's groundbreaking.

"to make sure they can have access to good quality recreational spaces. This is a 92-million dollar commitment."

It's the first new recreation center in about 14 years for Staten Island. The project will be completed by 2025.
