Many folks will be flocking to Rockefeller Center in New York City for the tree lighting ceremony which is taking place Wednesday night.

The tree is a 12 ton, 80 foot tall Norway Spruce that was cut down from just outside of Binghamton, New York. It came from the property of Jackie McGinley.

"For us to be able to bring joy to millions of people, what a gift and we are really excited to be able to do it."

The tree will be lit up throughout the holiday season with some 50-thousand LED lights along with a nine foot star. Prior to the tree lighting, there will be performances by Barry Manilow, Cher, Adam Blackstone and several others.

The NYPD is preparing for protests at the tree lighting ceremony.

Pro Palestinian organizers are calling their followers on social media to quote "Flood the tree lighting for Gaza." The NYPD sent an internal memo obtained by news outlets that calls for elevated vigilance during the tree lighting as it prepares for potential protests. The City has been under a heightened threat environment. Last week, pro-Palestinian protesters briefly disrupted the Thanksgiving Day parade which is was noted in the NYPD memo.
