The 35th annual New York Cares Coat Drive is underway in New York City.
The goal is to collect and distribute at least 250-thousand new and gently used coats over the next two years. Executive Director of New York Cares Sapreet Saluja thinks demand for coats is greater than ever.
"There are a lot of families having to make really difficult choices between putting food on the table and getting a winter coat that fits them."
She's hearing many migrants are in need of coats. For the first time, New York's pro sports teams are getting involved by promoting the coat drive at their games and through their social media channels. You can go to NewYorkCares.org to find drop off locations.
