New York City officials are taking a victory lap for the city's job growth over the last few years.

Deputy Mayor Maria Tores Springer says close to 30 thousand new businesses have started in New York over the last year.

"Our small businesses, they are mighty, they are growing and they are hghering and they are one of the strongest forces propelling us forward."

She says that is one reason why the latest state labor stats just in show New York City now at an all time high with number of jobs. The city has also recovered all the jobs lost during the coroanvirus pandemic. Mayor Eric Adams notes his administration still has a lot of work to do. The mayor says too many new yorkers are still left out of recovery.
